Zip-Guard Transparent Oil-Based Wood Stain is a conventional formula wood dye stain that stains and seals in one coat, providing depth of color and allowing the wood grain to be show through. Dye stains offer you control over the darkness or lightness of the stain and can be intermixed to create a unique color. Lighter tones can be obtained by wiping off the stain, darker colors by re-applying the stain, and custom colors by mixing tones. Clean-up is easy with soap and water.

Zip-Guard Original Oil-Based Wood Stain is available in 10 tones: Natural, Walnut, Dark Walnut, Light Walnut, Red Oak, Golden Oak, Mahogany, Cherry, Provincial and Ebony.

FAST DRY - Stain & Finish in One Day!
Zip-Guard Dye Stain reproduces the appearance of expensive handcrafted store bought furniture. Professionals use it to enhance the natural grain and beauty of hardwoods such as oak, cherry, mahogany and walnut.
Use on all interior raw wood surfaces, but not over paint, clear finishes, or other stains. Use Natural Wood Conditioner #300 as a sealer on soft woods like pine before staining to control blotching, assuring a more even penetration of stain and finish.
On raw wood sand with 120 or 150 grit paper or remove old finish with Zip-Strip®, then sand. To remove sanding dust, wipe thoroughly with rag dampened with paint thinner. Apply a liberal amount of stain using a bristle or foam brush, cloth, painter's pad, lamb's wool or sponge mop, spray applicator, or dip. Wipe only to achieve a lighter tone. (For darker shades, allow to dry 15 min., then apply again.) Intermix for custom colors. Do not mix with other brand stains or finishes. Always apply or wipe off stains working with the grain of the wood. On single-coat stain applications, allow to dry 2-3 hours. Two or more coats, allow to dry thoroughly 8-12 hrs.
FLOORS: If previously finished, sand to bare wood. Sweep up and then vacuum all sanding dust. After sanding, wipe with rag dampened with paint thinner to make tack rag. Test small area for color. Apply liberal coat. Allow to dry 15 min. If too dark, wipe down with cloth and paint thinner. Apply with brush or lamb’s wool applicator. Work small areas to assure that lap marks remain wet for blending additional coats. If lap marks show, apply another light application and work in with brush, cloth or mop until eliminated. Allow to dry 8-12 hours at temperature of 65º - 75ºF, or until thoroughly dry. (Low temperature or high humidity can slow dry.) Test apply first coat of Zip-Guard Wood Finish to check for drying of finish or lifting of stain.
FINISHING: For Beauty and Durability, topcoat with Zip-Guard® Urethane Wood Finish.
Coverage: 1,000 sq. ft. per gallon.
