Zip-Strip Industrial Paint and Finish Remover
Zip-Strip Industrial Paint and Finish Remover is the strongest of our removers and was developed for use on more difficult projects such as boats, cars and concrete. It contains a detergent which makes it possible to wash the finish off with water, minimizing scraping. The semi-paste consistency makes this remover a good choice for vertical as well as horizontal surfaces.
Zip-Strip Industrial Paint and Finish Remover is non-flammable. It is excellent for interior as well as exterior applications. It removes eight or more coats of enamel, oil and latex paint, urethane, polyurethane, shellac, lacquer, water-based finish, varnish and even epoxy. It works well for marine, automotive, farm, and industrial applications including concrete swimming pools and metal lawn furniture. It will not raise the grain or discolor the wood. No neutralizing is required. Removes easily with a scraper, washing off with cool water and a scrub brush, or spraying with a high pressure stream of water. (Note: Use of water may loosen veneer or raise wood grain. This would make it necessary to re-glue veneer or to sand the wood after it is thoroughly dry, prior to refinishing.)

ZIP-STRIP® INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH REMOVER is Non-Flammable, Semi-Paste, Water-Rinsable. Removes: Enamel, oil, latex and acrylic paint, varnish, lacquer, shellac, urethane, polyurethane, epoxy finish and aids in stain removal. It will not raise the grain of wood, harm metal or genuine leather. Do not use on synthetic fabric, rayon, nylon, linoleum, asphalt, foam products or rubber tile. May soften fiberglass or plastic.
USE CAUTION WHEN OPENING. The contents of this can may be under pressure. KEEP AWAY FROM FACE.
DIRECTIONS: Use caution when opening! Apply liberally, brushing in one direction only, leave on from 10-20 minutes, depending on the number of coats of old finish to be removed. After old finish bubbles loose from surface, wash off old finish with a scrub brush or coarse rag and cool water. Some finishes such as varnish, epoxy and latex will not wrinkle or bubble. Pretest for removal time. Do not let softened finish re-dry. Finish can also be scraped off with a wide-blade putty knife, steel wool or burlap cloth. This method is preferred on wood surfaces where water will raise the wood grain. Use old brush for application, discard after use. Do not use in direct sunlight or on hot surfaces. ON WOOD FLOORS: Clean all remover from cracks and joints. Allow to dry thoroughly (at least 24 hours) before refinishing.
STAINS: To acquire a lighter tone after old finish is removed, scrub with Zip-Strip and steel wool or a combination of 8 parts Zip-Strip to 1 part household bleach (see Refinishing Book). Do not rush the remover, let Zip-Strip do the work. For final clean-up, use fine steel wool dipped in Zip-Strip and wipe surface thoroughly with clean cloth. Allow surface to dry overnight. Finish wood surfaces with Zip-Guard® Interior Wood Stain and Zip-Guard® Wood Finish (Available in satin, gloss or semi-gloss).

HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION: Contains Methylene Chloride which has been shown to cause cancer in certain laboratory animals. WARNING: This product contains chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Vapor harmful. May affect the brain or nervous system causing dizziness, headache, or nausea. Causes nose and throat irritation. May be absorbed through the skin. If symptoms occur, leave the area.
Notice: Reports have associated repeated and prolonged occupational overexposure to solvents with permanent brain and nervous system damage. Risk to your health depends on level and duration of exposure. Intentional misuse by deliberately concentrating and inhaling contents may be harmful or fatal. Do not breathe vapors or spray mist. USE ONLY WITH ADEQUATE VENTILATION Use this product out of doors, if possible. If you must use it indoors, prevent build up of vapors by opening all windows and doors to achieve cross ventilation or use other means to assure fresh air movement during use and drying. Reduces blood's oxygen-carrying capacity. People having or suspected of having heart trouble or any pulmonary disorders and women who are pregnant should consult their physician before using this product. Do not use in unventilated or basement areas. Obtain professional advice before using a respirator. A dust mask does not provide protection against vapors. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. CAUTION: To protect sensitive skin wear chemical resistant gloves. Contact of product or vapor with flame, pilot light or hot surfaces such as kerosene heaters, gas stoves, water heaters, clothes dryers, electric paint strippers may produce toxic or corrosive gases. Open container carefully and close after each use. Remove rags, papers and waste promptly out of doors. Allow solvent to evaporate, then place in a closed metal container for disposal.
Do not store near heat or in areas of widely fluctuating temperatures or display in windows.
Transport and store in upright position only. Never store or transport in an area where sun or heat exposure may cause temperature of product to elevate above normal ambient conditions; this may cause the product to expand, causing product to leak or container to rupture.

FIRST AID. Eye Contact: Immediately flush with plenty of water at least 15 minutes and get medical attention immediately. Skin contact: Wash thoroughly with soap and water. If irritation persists, get medical attention. If inhaled and difficulty in breathing, leave area, obtain fresh air. If difficulty continues, get medical assistance immediately. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting. Get medical assistance immediately.
