Zip-Strip Contractors Plus Paint & Finish Remover

Zip-Strip Contractors Plus Paint & Finish Remover "Makes It Easy." This is an excellent, less expensive remover for use on all clear finishes and paints. It will remove two to three coats in a single application. The semi-paste cling consistency makes it possible to use on vertical as well as horizontal surfaces.

Zip-Strip Contractors Plus Paint & Finish Remover will not raise the grain or discolor the wood. No neutralizing is required. Softened finish can be removed easily with a scraper, putty knife or steel wool. It is excellent for interior and exterior use. It is flammable, so keep it away from sparks, flames or any possible source of ignition.

Available in quarts, gallons, 5-gallon pails and 55-gallon drums.

Directions

ZIP-STRIP CONTRACTORS PLUS PAINT REMOVER removes oil based and latex paints, varnish, shellac, lacquer, urethane and polyurethane finish. Contains no acid or alkali. Will not harm metal, wood or genuine leather. DO NOT use on plastic, vinyl, asphalt, or rubber flooring, synthetic fabric or foam products. May soften fiberglass.

Open windows and doors for adequate ventilation in the area where paint remover is being used. Open container with caution! Always protect skin and eyes. Use chemical resistant gloves and eye protection during use. Pour the remover into a wide open-mouth metal or glass container. Apply a single heavy application in the direction of the wood grain using an old paint brush. Do not re-brush remover once it has been applied. Average time required for penetration is 15 - 20 minutes. Remove loosened finish with putty knife or steel wool working in the direction of the wood grain. Avoid use in sunlight, on hot surfaces or in windy conditions. Best working conditions are 65º - 75º F, with no wind. Do not allow remover to dry.

FINAL CLEANING: Dip steel wool in remover, scrub surface, then wipe dry with clean cloth. Allow overnight dry at 70º F before applying new finish.

WOOD FLOORS: Apply remover as recommended above. Thoroughly remove all old finish and paint remover from surface and board joints. Allow 24 hours to dry before finishing. RECOMMENDATION: Pretest paint remover in a small, inconspicuous area to test for effective removal time and amount of remover needed.

WARNING: This product contains chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. NOTICE: Reports have associated repeated and prolonged occupational overexposure to solvents with permanent brain and nervous system damage. Intentional misuse by deliberately concentrating and inhaling contents may be harmful or fatal. Risk to your health depends on level and duration of exposure. Vapor harmful. May affect the brain or nervous system causing dizziness, headache or nausea. REDUCES THE BLOOD'S OXYGEN CARRYING CAPACITY. People having heart trouble, pulmonary disorders or pregnant women should consult their physician before use. Do not use in basement or unventilated areas. Use outdoors if possible. Do not breathe vapors or spray mist. Ensure fresh air entry during application and drying. If you experience eye-watering, headache, dizziness or if air monitoring demonstrates vapor/ mist levels are above applicable limits, wear an appropriate, properly fitted NIOSH approved respirator during and after application. Follow respirator manufacturer's directions for respirator use. Open container carefully and close after each use. Clean up papers and waste promptly and remove promptly out of doors. Allow solvent to evaporate, then dispose of rags and residue in closed metal container. Keep out of reach of children/ animals. USE ONLY WITH ADEQUATE VENTILATION. Vapors may ignite explosively. Keep away from heat, sparks and flame. Vapors may cause flash fire. Do not smoke. Extinguish all flame and pilot lights and turn off stoves, heaters, electric motors and other sources of ignition during use and until all vapors are gone. Contact with flame or hot surface may produce toxic or harmful corrosive gases. Prevent build-up of vapors by opening all windows and doors to achieve cross-ventilation.

If workplace exposure monitoring indicates methylene chloride levels cannot be controlled to below the established OSHA exposure limit (29 CFR 1910.1050), then appropriate respiratory protection must be provided. Obtain professional advice before using respiratory protection. A dust mask does not provide protection against vapors.

Contains: Methanol, Toluene, Acetone and Methylene Chloride. Cannot be made non-poisonous Do not get in eyes, on skin or clothing. Avoid prolonged or repeated contact with skin. May be harmful if absorbed through skin.

FIRST AID: If swallowed, do not induce vomiting. Get medical attention immediately. If you experience difficulty in breathing: leave area, obtain fresh air. If difficulty continues, get medical assistance immediately. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Eye Contact: Immediately flush thoroughly with water for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention at once. Skin Contact: Wash thoroughly with soap and water. If irritation persists, seek advice of physician. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash clothing before reuse.

If spilled, contain spilled material and remove with inert absorbent. Dispose of contaminated absorbent, container and/or unused contents in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.

Transport and store in upright position only. Never store or transport in an area where sun or heat exposure may cause temperature of product to elevate above normal ambient conditions; this may cause the product to expand, causing product to leak or container to rupture.
